Overview

This is an on-foot rhino trek, walking through the savannah and woodlands. The first six Rhinos in the sanctuary were trans-located from Kenya and Disney Animal Kingdom (USA) and they have been breeding since to now a population of over 20 individuals with the first born named Obama. On this tour you will enjoy sighting different plant species and flowering plants as you walk through the sanctuary in search for the Rhinos.
While at the sanctuary, you can sign up to adopt a rhino or have the next baby named after you. Let us know your wish and will get you started.

Itinerary

Day 1 :
Drive to Ziwa Rhino Sanctuary - Rhino Tracking

Pick up from your hotel or residence in Kampala and embark on the drive to Ziwa Rhino Sanctuary along the way stopping for fruits and taking a look at the local markets. Arrive at the ranch in the afternoon and have lunch, thereafter check in at your hotel.
In the evening, go for the Rhino trekking where you will spot Rhinos as well as other animals and birds. Return to the lodge for the night and dinner and rest.

Day 2 :
Morning Choice of Optional Activities - Drive to Kampala

After breakfast, choose any morning choice of activities or relax at the hotel and thereafter transfer back to Kampala.

Optional Activities

Night Walk

Our guided night walk will introduce to you night sounds and sensations you did not know existed! This is an experience you cannot exclude from your activities on the sanctuary. We have many nocturnal animals and who knows what you might bump into.
Starting Time: 20H30 to 23H00
Duration of walk: Approximately 2½ hours
Essentials: Closed shoes, water, long pants, insect repellent and a flashlight
Age Restriction: 14 years or older

Shoe Bill Trek & Canoe Ride

Shoe Bill Trek & Canoe Ride

You will need an overnight at the Sanctuary to do this activity. Start the shoe bill trek by 06:00am through the Swamp with a canoe ride to also spot water birds
Starting Time: 06H00 to 10H00
Duration of walk: Approximately 4 hours
Essentials: Closed shoes, water, long pants, insect repellent and a hat
Prices: USD 60 per adult

Guided Nature Walk 

No one can predict what you will see, walk through the sanctuary to spot a variety of animals, reptiles and birds together with nature sounds. Surely you will spot different plants, good to see, touch and leave for others to enjoy.
Starting Time: 07H30 and 16H30
Duration of walk: Approximately 2 hours
Essentials: Closed shoes, water, long pants, insect repellent and a hat.

Birding Walk

With over 300 bird species, you can take up any of the bird trails, woodlands, swamp and savannah.
Starting Time: 07H00 to 09H00 and 16H00 to 18H00
Duration of walk: Approximately hours
Essentials: Closed shoes, water, long pants, insect repellent and a hat
