Itinerary
Upon arrival at Jomo Kenyatta international airport, you will meet and greet with your guide and transfer to your accommodation.
After an early breakfast you will head to the world-renowned Masai Mara Game Reserve. Located in southwestern Kenya, on the border with Tanzania, the Masai Mara is a land of breathtaking views, endless plains and an excellent year-round concentration of wildlife. In the months of July-October it is also home to over two million Wildebeest making their yearly trek north from the Serengeti in Tanzania.
After lunch you will have the opportunity to explore your new surroundings on foot. Led by a professional and highly knowledgeable guide, your nature walk will teach you the intricate workings of the micro ecosystems of the bush, from exotic flora to the region's plentiful birdlife.
Sunrise is a great time for wildlife spotting as animals tend to be the most active during the “golden hours”, when the first rays of sunshine come to rest on the savannah. Few predators hunt during the heat of the day, so the early morning is the best time to observe the thrill of the chase, or at least the aftermath of a hunt.
After breakfast, return to Nairobi Enjoy your last African sunrise today and the tranquility of nature all around you. Depending on the departure time of your international flight, there may be some time to do an optional activity near Lake Naivasha or in Nairobi. All activities today are at your own expense. Your driver/guide will take care of your transfer to Jomo Kenyatta international Airport.
Before You Go
The best time to visit Kenya is during the dry season, from July to October. For safaris, the annual migrations happen during that time so wildlife spotting is at its best. If you travel to Kenya during the summertime (December to March) visit the coast or local villages, since the temperatures will be more forgiving. .
Visitors from or passing through a yellow fever and cholera zone (most of tropical Africa and South America) may be able to produce a valid International Certificate of Vaccination.
Make sure your Yellow Fever vaccination is up to date before arriving in Uganda. Air travellers who only pass through the airports of such a zone are exempt from the requirement. It is also advised that all travellers be vaccinated against Meningitis, Typhoid and Hepatitis.
As this is a malaria zone, visitors should also take prophylactics against malaria although the best way to avoid catching malaria is to avoid bites by using mosquito repellent and sleeping under a mosquito net. For your own comfort take a mosquito repellent. Mosquito nets are provided in most hotels, lodges and camps. Precautions should be taken against malaria both when visitors are in the country, and when they return home. It is advisable to drink only bottled water and avoid swimming in ponds and still water pools. Desist from taking tap water.
Visa and MasterCard are the two most widely accepted credit cards in Africa, while Diners and American Express may not always be accepted. Cards should have a chip and pin if you plan to use them to withdraw money from ATMs.
Please be sure to advise your bank before you travel that you will be using your card in a different country as they may block access to your card if they do not know that you are travelling.
